Corporate Team Building Activities in London: Why Pottery Works
Share
Most corporate team-building activities in London fall into two categories: forced fun in a conference room, or an escape room that half the team has already done. A pottery workshop is neither — and it works for a specific reason.
Why Clay Works as a Team-Building Activity
Clay puts everyone on equal footing. Job title doesn't help you build a mug. The most senior person in the room has exactly the same blank canvas as the newest hire — everyone starts from zero, everyone struggles with the same basic problems, and everyone ends up mildly, genuinely surprised at what they made. That shared, low-stakes vulnerability builds a different kind of connection than a facilitated icebreaker exercise does.
What a Session Involves
Our corporate pottery workshops run for two hours at our Waterloo studio, with exclusive use of the space for your team. You can choose pottery painting (lower pressure, decorating pre-made pieces) or mug making (hand-building from raw clay) — both are taught personally by Bora Cetin, a working ceramic artist with 25 years of experience, in the same studio where the Doppiocotto collection is made.
What's Included
- Private hire of the studio for your group
- All clay, tools, paints, glazes and materials
- Aprons for every participant
- Welcome drinks on arrival
- Expert tuition throughout
- Glazing and kiln firing of every finished piece
Pricing runs £18–£45 per person for pottery painting or £55–£60 for hand-building, depending on group size and session type.
Why Teams Keep the Result
Unlike most team-building activities, this one produces something that outlasts the afternoon. Finished pieces are glazed and kiln-fired after the session, ready to collect in two to three weeks — a mug that ends up on someone's actual desk, not a photo that gets forgotten in a shared drive.
Location
Waterloo, SE1 — a two-minute walk from Waterloo station, easy for teams travelling from across London.
