Handmade stoneware espresso cup gift set with tray, made in London by Doppiocotto

Handmade Wedding Favours and Custom Wedding Plates: A London Guide

Wedding favours are often the first thing left behind on the table. A small handmade ceramic piece is different: guests take it home and use it. Doppiocotto makes bespoke stoneware for weddings by hand in its Waterloo studio in London SE1, and every piece is made by ceramic artist Bora Cetin, who has 25 years of experience working with clay.

Wedding ceramics ideas

  • Wedding favours: small handmade espresso cups, cups or mini dishes for every guest to take home
  • Custom wedding plates and tableware: dinner plates, mezze plates, cups and serving pieces for the wedding table or a celebration dinner
  • Gifts for the couple: matched sets of cups, mugs and plates as a lasting wedding present
  • Bridal party and family gifts: individual pieces for bridesmaids, groomsmen, parents and close friends

Making it yours

Because every piece is slab-built by hand and fired twice, no two are exactly alike, but a full order shares the same form, glaze and finish. Glaze colours can be chosen to suit your wedding palette, and pieces can be personalised with names, initials or the wedding date, depending on the size of your order. The stoneware is food-safe, dishwasher-safe and microwave-safe, so favours and tableware can be used every day long after the wedding.

How a wedding order works

  1. Enquiry: tell us your wedding date, what you'd like made and roughly how many pieces
  2. Design: we agree forms, glazes and any personal details together
  3. Making: every piece is hand-built, bisque fired and glaze fired in our London studio
  4. Collection or delivery: pieces are carefully packed for collection from the studio or shipped to you

When to order

Handmade pieces take time, so get in touch as early as you can. We'll give you a clear timeline for your date at the enquiry stage, so you can plan favours and table settings with confidence.

Before the big day
