Private Group Pottery Events in London: Ideas for Every Occasion

Planning something for a group in London and tired of the usual restaurant booking or round of drinks? A private pottery session gives everyone something to do together, and something to take home. Doppiocotto runs private group events at its working ceramics studio in Waterloo, London SE1, a 9-minute walk from Waterloo station and a 2-minute walk from Lambeth North station. Every session is taught personally by ceramic artist Bora Cetin, who has 25 years of experience working with clay.

How a private group pottery event works

  • Group size: groups of 2 to 20 people
  • Activity: hand-building with stoneware clay, pottery painting, or a mix of both, guided step by step by Bora
  • No experience needed: every session is designed for complete beginners
  • Materials: all clay, tools and materials are provided
  • Food and drinks: you can bring your own food and drinks
  • Your pieces: everything is glazed and kiln-fired by Bora after the session and will be ready to collect in approximately 2 weeks

Doppiocotto is entirely hand-built, so there is no pottery wheel. Instead, you shape pieces by hand and with slabs of clay, which is easier for beginners and works well for groups.

Pick the occasion

Why groups choose a working studio

Doppiocotto is the studio where every piece in the shop is made by hand, so your group works among real tools, glazes and pieces in progress, with the artist who makes them. It's a more personal experience than a hired function room, and every guest leaves with a piece made on the day.

Getting there

The studio is in Waterloo, close to the South Bank and Borough Market. Lambeth North station (Bakerloo line) is a 2-minute walk away and Waterloo station is a 9-minute walk, so it is easy for guests to reach from anywhere in London.
